Yeah, I added a blogroll. Proud of me?

Not a great deal of knitting done lately, and none that I can show, of course. So I’ll leave you with Jabba the Cat:

Jabba the Cat

Yes, she’s mine. Ponder that.

It’s that very American holiday. I hope it was great for everyone out there.

What did I do today? This:

Sock for Liam

For my nephew Liam, since I couldn’t take any of the Christmas knitting with me, and I have to have something in my hands or I go nuts. Now just to do the second

Wow! I’m glad my blog can be helpful to people trying to knit Harry Potter scarves!

After a few people have asked about Knitpicks and their colors for house scarves, I did some digging around in the Harry Potter Knitting LiveJournal communtity.

Here’s a great reference post. Again, I used the Merino Style. It’s a bit more than the Wool of the Andes, but I don’t think I’d like the latter around my neck.

And I’m off to knit some gifts in some Andean Silk. Gorgeous, gorgeous yarn. The person(s) getting this will be happy.

turtlegirl76 commented on the scarf today, about the width being somewhat alarming. Well, to be honest, I didn’t check my gauge, but I believe the pattern says it’s something like nine inches wide. I know a lot of folks stop at 11 repeats of the trapped bar, but I figured I’d go for the full nine yards (or eight feet, as the case may be). It was LOVELY last night at the midnight showing, though. Temperatures here dropped down to freezing, and it was large enough to drape over whatever part of me was cold. At one point it was a hood, even. And Mike was jealous. I guess he gets a scarf next. Well, after holiday knitting finishes. And it’s started, but I can’t post pictures. At least until I swear my sister to secrecy.

I may be sick, but don’t let that stop the knitting. Just slow it down a bit.

It's a really long scarf...

Here it is, all fringed and everything. In time to see the movie in just over 24 hours. Yes, I have tickets to the midnight show. What else did you guys expect?

Also finished tonight:

Grape Vine Socks

And yes, this was the product of more insomnia. I took a picture before I started today. Forgive the quality - this was taken right before my comp sci class, with my Palm camera.

One day's knitting...

All of that was knitting last night while I was either in class or couldn’t sleep. Fun, hm?

Here’s what insomnia leads to:

Purple Iris Sock and Yarn
Just the first one. Lorna’s Laces Sheperd Sock, Purple Iris, on size 1 needles.

Artistic shot with the unwound hank that will form the second sock.

I’m going to try to sleep now. Heh.

Well, here’s my first try at blocking a knitted item:

Blocking the scarf

After it’s dry, I’ll fringe it, and call it a day.

Oh, and wet wool reeks. Really. It smells like a fresh perm in here.

Pictures from this weekend:

Me hungry!

This is a picture from a dark restaurant taken with a cameraphone. Fun, hm? But this is my dear little sister attacking the appetizer when we went out to dinner.

Now, you might ask what would cause such a sweet girl to such a violent action? Here’s what:

Strawberry Dude

Relax, Mom, Dad, and everyone else who’s worried. We were both going the non-alcoholic route. Although I have my doubts about the strawberry garnish…

I must be dreaming. Because I think I see this:

Could it be?

It can’t be, can it? The end of the scarf. No way. Why, the movie won’t be out for more than a week.

Oh, wait. I was right.

Oh, dear....

Ah, well.

Okay, it was a great weekend. My little sister Becky came to visit, and we shopped.

My feet still hurt.

I don’t see Becky all that often, but she’s one of my best friends, even if she’s nine years younger than I am. There was also knitting and movie watching that got done. Not a lot of sleep, but, that’s usual for me.

Unforutnately, I think I needed more sleep than I got. Yesterday I woke up with an incredible sinus migraine. Was supposed to do calc and comp sci homework, but that didn’t happen. Played Civ 4 on an easier level than usual, because thinking was too hard for me. Mike finally put me to bed, where I slept about three hours before waking up, feeling slightly better, and doing all my backlogged homework.

Well…at least for calc. When I found myself falling asleep with my head on my notebook, I decided the programming could wait. It’s not due until tomorrow night, anyway.

Knitting-wise, it’s been the endless scarf, all the way. It looks the same, just longer. Twelve repeats done now, two to go. Except, oops. I ran out of blue yarn. So I’m waiting on more to show up. I’d been fearing this from the start, and kept convincing myself it wouldn’t happen.

Hah.

The thing’s too big to take to class anyway, at this point. I think it’s back to socks for class knitting. If I can drag myself in tonight. Ugh. I have a sore throat and I’m oogie from lack of sleep. But since when is that new? Somehow, Tuesday calc classes are always hard for me to get the motivation for. And I’m worried about the exam I’ll probably be getting back today. After my stalker incident on Wednesday, I was in no frame of mind for it. At least I can retake it if I need to. Whew.
