If it’s not obvious, it’s not happening. *sigh*
I actually got this package before my hospital trip, but I’m just now getting around to posting it, as my bed has been rather irresistable.
Isn’t this a lovely wrapping job? Mmm…yarn ties.
And what’s inside?
I have to say, I’m not quite sure what the blue/green yarn is, but it’s lovely. The tag only has two words on it, “Petille!’ and “Environ,” which don’t turn up anything in English in a web search. Still, I adore the sparkly strand that binds the bulky part together. It’s going to be something special, when it speaks to me.
The blue and red is SWTC’s Karaoke, which I’ve been *dying* to try! Even Mike thinks it’s neat.
The rainbow hank on the top of the pile is Prism Yarn’s Pebbles in Tutti Fruiti. So cheerful, and it feels slightly velvety.
Finally, my favorite, is the rainbow stuff on the right. Berroco Foliage, and I might actually never knit this. I have the two balls sitting at different spots on my desk, and they make me smile every time I see them. Sometimes yarn isn’t for knitting, it’s just for being. ![]()
I love my Secret Pal - she’s the *best*!
(Apologies if my SP is not, in fact, female. I just figure odds are in my favor.)
And thankfully. Not terribly strong, as I’ve spen the past few days as the guest of Inova Fairfax Hospital. After a bunch of tests, IV fluid, and such, the diagnosis is that I was suffering from viral gastroenteritis. I ended up staying a day longer than the doctors thought I would, since I was incredibly pale and weak when they were originally going to discharge me, and I’m glad I didn’t come home Wednesday.
I am very grateful that Mike took me to Fairfax instead of our local hospital, even if it’s a much longer drive. Whereas I’m used to a several hour wait in the lobby to even get triaged, Fairfax had me in triage in minutes, and when the triage nurse saw my heart rate (160), immediately had me down for an EKG and in a bed. While the rest of things weren’t quite that efficient, it made a big difference.
You can all forgive me, though, if I’m still vaguely amused at the doctor (he may or may not have been a med student - they had some around me, as I wasn’t in any huge danger or whatnot) who kept trying to ask me questions while under the influence of Phenergan, which causes both drowsiness and confusion. I’d close my eyes and start to drift, and he’d ask if the light was bothering me. Two days running. Heh.
Anyway, time to nap again.
A lot to talk about, including a wonderful SP package, but at the moment I’m having trouble keeping water in my system. I’ll update when I’m feeling human.
New age.
New driver’s license. (No picture. Sheesh.)
New socks!
Yes, I went outside in my socks on my birthday so I could share an appropriately colored picture. Because I care. And because it’s warmer than it should be for this time of year. It’s normally snowing.
I love these socks. They make me happy, and they fit very well. Also the first sock I’ve done in something other than stockinette or ribbing. I feel accomplished! And, and the striping match up better than it appears there - I just had one sock pulled up less than the other. One just has a few more rounds of green on the toe.
All my fears aside, it was a very lovely birthday. Well, except for the part where I spontaneously burst into tears at midnight. :I But Mike had the day off, and spent it with me. We went to one of my favorite restaurants for lunch (Taste of Tandoor, for those in the area) and then to the yarn store. Where Mike bought me my gift:
A black leather Knit Knack Sack, which I’ve wanted for ages. Yet another set of size 1 needles. And that section of overwhelming gorgeousness?
Schaefer Anne. Mike picked it out. I didn’t see it, but when he handed it to me, I fell in love instantly. He says it’s “very Tina.” I agree. And I have the most incredible husband ever. He didn’t complain ONCE in the yarn store, and when I couldn’t find anything that spoke to me, he actually told me, “It’s your birthday. You have to get something! How about a book? Or some needles?” Then he went to ask about the Denise needles I was looking for, but they were out. So he left *his* cell phone number with the shop and he’ll get them when they get a new shipment.
I love that man.
We were going to go out for dinner, but I was tired, so we came home and I had a nap. Must be getting old. *smirk*
Updated to add: When sent out for snacks, Mike brought me back what we’ve come to call “Happy Cake.” Yet another term we’ve picked up from the nieces. He picked this one because it was not only obviously happy to look at, but on the box read “It’s what happy tastes like.”
Apparently, happy is both chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Yum.
I’ve decided that I want the Jaywalkers finished in time for my birthday on Monday, to cheer me up.
Here’s the first one:
I’m halfway done the heel flap on the second. It’s going well!
