Filed Under (Knitting, Row Counter, Socks) by Tina

I got back to development work on the Row Counter software. I think it’s going to need a new name - it does a bit more than count rows now. It will do more in the future.

We’ve found the missing gift sock. Thank goodness. I had actually ordered yarn to knit another pair of socks. The theory was, if the missing sock showed up, it could be given as intended. If not, I’d knit another two socks, so Mike would have a pair when we found the stray. But now Mike will have a pair when I get around to it. *grin*

Not a lot of knitting has been going on. I’ve just picked up the gusset stitches on the sock I showed last time. Whatever this bug is, it’s left me entirely drained. I got half a round done tonight. 32 stitches. That’s it. And that’s the most knitting I’ve gotten done since New Year’s.

But I think I’m feeling more like myself. Finally. :)
Oh, and no, this won’t stay my blog design for long. I just got frustrated with it and picked a default for now. Nothing else was working.

I spent the past six hours or so working on the Row Counter project…

But it’s much closer to what I wanted than it was in the last version.

I think I’m going to go collapse in bed and giggly madly.

It’s 5am, and for once, I’m okay with still being awake. I think it’s because I’m listening to Mike try to persuade Mini-Kitty over to be petted. She seems to be warming up to us more when we’re not in bed, and it makes me want to cry. I don’t know if it’s just her loosing her fear, or if it’s more that it’s incredibly sweet to hear your husband refer to the kitty as “sweetie” and “baby” and mean it. I have to love the man.

I probably make no sense, hmm? Insomniac week. Finals next week. Doesn’t make for a great state of mind. Even if I found out today that I currently have a 94 in calculus.

So I’ve been working on the Row Counter project. It’s gotten to a point where I’m reasonably happy with it. There are some problems, but I’m learning a lot about Java. Some of it may even be on my final exam. *grin* It’s a good review, if nothing else.

Also, Mike and I saw The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe tonight. Amazing. They did this one right. Thanks, guys. For handling my treasured childhood memories properly and reminding me of what I’d forgotten.

It was worth driving home at 3am in the snow/sleet/freezing rain. It really was. And I even knit half the leg of a sock while I was there. I would have knit more, but I kept getting caught up in the movie. No bad thing!

So, based on a discussion I saw last night on a desktop row counter and wishes for a Mac version, I put my novice Java skills to use and created this:

Row Counter

It’s a rough version for now, developed with insomnia. I’ll add more features as I go.
